Dr. ALAA ABDALAZIZ

Cairo Regional Center for Training on Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCCPA)

  

Dr. Alaa Abdalaziz has been coordinator and head of Programs unit of a UNDP-run capacity building project at the Cairo Regional Center for Training on Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCCPA) since 2008, when he was recruited for the role. Dr. Abdalaziz has spent the majority of his career as a diplomat for the Arab Republic of Egypt working on European Union, North Atlantic and African affairs.

  

In 2009, he was chosen by the African Union Commission as a member of the AU Core Evaluators Team designated to evaluate the African Standby Force (ASF). In 2010 he was selected as a member of the AU-EU Assessment Team assigned to evaluate the operational status of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA). He also serves as the principle capacity building expert for the North African Regional Capability (NARC). He teaches and lectures on the dynamics of APSA at the Folke Bernadotte Academy (Sweden), NATO Defense College (Italy), Hiroshima Peace-builders Centre (Japan) Crisis Management Center (Finland) and the Institute for Diplomatic Studies (Egypt).

  

Dr. Abdalaziz’s academic background is in political science. He has published scholarly articles, participated in research seminars and given lectures on a variety of topics.
